Vega recently sent me their newly formulated Vega One to try and I’d have to say I’m pretty impressed with it! I always believe in food first when it comes to my diet but I do still include some supplements just to cover all my bases and also for the convenience they provide.
There are a lot of great plant-based protein powders out there but I think Vega One is a good addition to any diet if you need an extra boost of nutrition, especially on those busy days.
The Vega One Nutritional Shake is made with real, whole foods and is non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan and also soy-free. It also packs 20 g of protein, 33% more than their previous formulation, 6 servings of green vegetables from sources like kale, spirulina and broccoli, an awesome vitamin and mineral profile, especially for any eating a plant-based diet and it’s also high in fibre, probiotics and antioxidants.
It also tastes great, which is obviously important. I usually use protein powders like this just with water, so it has to taste great on it’s own. So far I’ve tried the chocolate and vanilla, both are really good and I’ve had no problem drinking them with water after a workout or for an afternoon snack. For the past few weeks, I’ve been eating chia pudding for breakfast every single day. The thing I love about chia pudding is there are endless varieties so you never get bored. This version is really quick and easy and makes a delicious, healthy dessert, or a quick breakfast or snack anytime. Simply blend it and stick it in the fridge to set. The Vega One really boosts the nutritional profile of this recipe so it should keep you nice and full for hours.
- Blend all ingredients until smooth.
- Pour into two containers and place in the fridge.
- Let sit for at least 60 minutes or up to overnight.
- Optional: top with coconut cream and chocolate chips, or sliced banana and almond butter, or whatever else your heart desires!
