I decided to share the Chocolate Chia Smoothie on the blog today because:

  1. I love chia seeds and they’re great source of omega- 3’s, fiber and magnesium, and
  2. It’s chocolate.

This magnesium-rich smoothie gets it’s magnesium from 2 nutritious sources: raw cacao powder and chia seeds. It’s rich, chocolatey, thick, creamy and perfectly sweet thanks to the frozen banana.

To make this recipe extra creamy and delicious, make sure you use frozen banana then add a nut butter of your choice. Peanut, almond or cashew butter would all be excellent choices!

Chocolate Chia Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 2/3 cup plant-based milk of choice
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Natural Calm
  • 1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
  • 1 medium banana, chopped and frozen
  • 1 tablespoon almond or peanut butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix chia seeds with milk and Natural Calm.
  2. Let sit for 10 – 15 minutes to allow the chia seeds to absorb some of the liquid.
  3. Add the chia mixture to a blender, along with the cocoa powder, frozen banana, and nut butter (if using).
  4. Blend until smooth.
