I haven’t sweat this much running on the treadmill in maybe, um, ever. This was an awesome workout! Usually I just keep running in the rest phases of hill workouts but for this workout, I actually rested for the rest portions, letting my heart rate come back down. I rested approximately 30-45 seconds between each hill. My heart rate was up to 160 bpm on a few of these so I needed that rest! Because you’re resting between each hill, try to choose a running speed that is going to max you out as you come to the end of each hill. You may have to adjust your speed as your climb from 10% to 15% incline.
I left the treadmill running on an incline for the whole workout and just hopped onto the side panels to rest, or hopped right off and walked around a little until I was ready for the next repeat.
In other workout news, I’m still sore from Wednesdays Core Crunch Circuit and I’m sore from yesterday.
- 4 x 15 Bench Press
- 5 x 10 Clean + Press (Light, worked on form)
- 4 x 10 Inverted Bodyweight Row
- 1 x 15 1-Legged Squat/leg
- 1 x 15 Front Squat
I was a little unfocused as you can see from my sets of 1, but I felt really good on the the bench press and cleans. I definitely need to add more rowing exercises to my workouts, I was feeling really weak on the inverted rows and struggled to finish 10 at a time.
All in all, it’s been a pretty great week of workouts! Tomorrow will be hiking somewhere in North Vancouver and Sunday it’s an 11 km outdoor run for my half-marathon training.
