This zippy, ginger turmeric tea has wonderful anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties and is the perfect drink to sip all Fall and Winter long.

  • 3 cups water
  • approx. 1 tbsp chopped fresh turmeric root
  • approx. 1 tbsp chopped fresh ginger root
  • 2 slices of washed fresh lemon
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • maple syrup, agave syrup or raw honey, optional, to taste (use stevia for sugar-free tea)

  1. Add everything except the sweetener to a small saucepan and bring to a light simmer over low to medium heat.
  2. Simmer lightly for 10 minutes then turn off the heat and let it sit on the element for another 10 minutes. You can cut it shorter but the longer it sits, the stronger flavour it will have. Alternatively, let it sit over very low heat for up to 30 minutes, then strain and enjoy.
  3. Strain though a fine mesh strainer into 1-2 mugs. Sweeten to taste and enjoy.
