Hey, guys! So, I recently teamed up with Burt’s Bees to take their 28-Day Face Cleanse Challenge and share my experience with you.
I’m pretty excited about this collaboration because my skin could definitely use some love and attention, especially going into the summer months when it will be seeing a lot more sunshine. With the #28DayFaceCleanse challenge I’ll have fresh, healthier-looking, renewed skin just in time for summer and that sounds just about perfect to me!
Since Burt’s Bees values well-being, sustainability and natural living, I was happy to have them featured on Running on Real Food. They believe that what you put on your body should be made from ingredients you can spell and pronounce, and I couldn’t agree more. We all try to eat healthy, natural foods but sometimes we forget to apply the same principles to our self-care products. Burt’s Bees mission is to make peoples lives better everyday, naturally. I can absolutely get on board with that.
Burt’s Bees and Kimberly Snyder, nutritionist and author of The Beauty Detox, challenged me to this 28-Day Face Cleanse with their new line of Renewal Face Care products. Over the next 28 days, the goal is to only use natural products and follow the Renewal regimen for beautiful, renewed skin, the idea behind it being that the skin renew itself every 28 days. Renewal Face Care is clinically shown to smooth skin, improve firmness and reduce the look of wrinkles in as few as 4 weeks. Sign me up!
The new Renewal Face Care line with wrinkle-smoothing White Hibiscus and intensively hydrating Apple take centre stage in the Hibiscus and Apple Rejuvenating Complex. Within the line, this remarkable interaction plumps up cells to help reduce the look of lines and wrinkles, improve firmness, and makes skin appear smoother and more hydrated. I’m 32 and my face has seen it’s fair share of sunny days, so I’m definitely starting to see wrinkles! I might as well start while I’m ahead, right?
There are 5 natural skin care products I’ll be using over the next 28 days. I started yesterday so I could get a feel for the products and I’d have to say, they’re really quite lovely, smell wonderful and made my skin feel really refreshed.
There’s the Renewal Refining Cleanser designed to help restore smoother, younger-looking skin with some of nature’s most power anti-aging ingredients. It deeply cleanses without stripping and it gently exfoliates to reveal smoother skin. I like that’s it’s soap-free, rinses easily and removes dirt, oil and make-up.
I don’t spend a lot of time on my beauty routine so I appreciate a product that can wash away dirt, oil and makeup in one go, without stripping my skin and leaving it dry. I have combination skin that can be quite oily at times but can become quite dry with the wrong products. After using this cleanser today and yesterday, my skin felt clean and refreshed but not tight or dry.
Next is the Renewal Firming Day Lotion with SPF 30. This is a really good one for me because I’m not the best at using sunscreen daily. It’s nice to have an SPF 30 included in a moisturizer. I really love how lightweight this lotion is, it absorbs really quickly and leaves the skin feeling soft and refreshed and it’s been shown to reduce the look to deep wrinkles and help improve firmness.
The other 3 products are the Renewal Intensive Firming Serum, the Renewal Smoothing Eye Cream and the Renewal Firming Night Cream, all clinically show to help improve firmness and reduct eh look of deep wrinkles. All 3 are really lovely, very light and smell great. I really enjoy patting on the eye cream and serum twice a day, it’s like a little mini-spa moment to myself!
Morning and evening, I’ll be washing my face with the Renewal Refining Cleanser and following up with the Renewal Intensive Firming Serum and Smoothing Eye Cream. In the morning I’ll use the Renewal Firming Day Lotion and in the evening, the Renewal Firming Night Cream.
Of course, living a natural, healthy lifestyle is also key to creating beautiful, glowing skin. Plenty of water, exercise and stress-management can all help to promote healthy, happy skin. I find that eating a wide-variety of fruits and vegetables and drinking lots of water does help to keep my skin at it’s best. Green smoothies are wonderful, sweating daily, minimizing alcohol and of course, no smoking, all play a part in a smooth, hydrated complexion.
I’ve always had problem skin and it’s only just now starting to calm down a bit. It’s very uneven, dry, oily, irritated and I still suffer from acne however, switching to natural products years ago and eating a whole food diet certainly helps. I still don’t feel comfortable not wearing at least a little bit of makeup, so we’ll see how I feel about that after 28 days!
