This Coconut Banana Cream Pie Smoothie is creamy, dreamy, coconutty and just so good! I’d recommend it after an intense workout to replenish and recover. Thanks to the Vega Performance Protein you’ll be getting a ton of protein, BCAAs and glutamine, which is just what you need to start the recovery process after a tough workout.
Must-Have: Frozen Banana
The key to the creaminess in this smoothie is definitely the frozen banana and it won’t be the same without them. I almost always have a container of frozen banana chunks in the freezer for quick “ice cream” and adding to smoothies. They have the most delicious, creamy texture when blended.
If you haven’t tried frozen banana ice cream before, you’re missing out. It’s just about the best vegan fix for ice cream lovers there is and you can easily customize it by adding peanut butter, cocoa, or anything else your heart desires!
Alright, enough about how delicious bananas are. But really, aren’t they just the best all-natural, energy boosting, conveniently packaged fruit ever?? Head on down below for my banana cream pie smoothie recipe, enjoy!!
Coconut Banana Cream Pie Smoothie
This creamy, coconut smoothie is a twist on classic banana cream pie. It’s made with frozen banana for extra creaminess and sweetness and it’s balanced out with a spirtz of fresh lemon juice. Almonds and cinnamon bring in the flavour of the crust and a mixture of light coconut milk and almond milk smooth is all out.
This smoothie is ideal before or after a workout that’s the energizing carbohydrates from the banana and the added protein powder. If you’re looking for low-sugar smoothie options, try my Low-Sugar Blueberry Coconut Smoothie Bowl or my Low-Sugar Chocolate Avocado Smoothie Bowl.Print
- 3/4 cup canned light coconut milk
- 3/4 cup almond milk
- 2 small frozen bananas, cut into chunks
- 1 serving Vega Performance Protein in Vanilla
- 2 tbsp raw almonds
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- optional: 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender and mix until smooth and creamy.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy!
I used two small bananas, but one large one will be fine. Adjust the consistency by starting with a bit less almond milk and adding it in slowly. Mine was very thick but still drinkable through a straw.
