Hello all my awesome readers and blogger friends! I just have a quick post for you tonight but I’m so excited I had to share. I just signed up for the Tough Mudder event in Whistler, BC this coming June. I had planned to run a half-marathon on June 23rd but instead I’ll be participating in the Tough Mudder on the 22nd and will have to schedule a half for later this year.
If you haven’t heard of Tough Mudder, it’s a 10-12 mile obstacle course adventure challenge. Check it out:
Now I know I can finish this but I’d like to finish it feeling good! I have 12 weeks to train and what I’ll be focusing on is upper body strength and high-intensity strength training. That means lots of squats, deadlifts, burpees, pull-ups, pushups, planks and cardio exercises like box jumps, skipping, jumping jacks, mountain climbers and plyometrics. So I’ll have some awesome, killer workouts for you coming up over the next few months!
This is my favourite kind of training so I’m looking forward to it. I’ll keep up my weekly running schedule and really focus on hill training.
Let’s have a little motivation in honour of Tough Mudders everywhere!
Today was gorgeous in Vancouver, the complete opposite of yesterdays crazy, stormy weather, so were super excited to bust out the bikes for an after-work seawall ride!! The first after work ride of the year felt awesome. I love living in the West End because we can just pop down to the seawall and take it all the way around Stanley Park, False Creek or out to Spanish Banks. On days like today you can forget about the endless months of grey and rain and just enjoy this beautiful city.
Are you doing a Tough Mudder race this year?
Have you done one before? Any tips?!
