I’ve been on a little bit of a sugar bender this past few weeks, not to say it’s been particularly terrible versions of sugar but it’s sugar none the less (honey and maple syrup in raw desserts being the main culprits!). I realized I’ve been using the blog as an excuse to make tasty, little treat recipes! But I need something to blog about right!? Ummmm, no.
It’s time to re-set the diet for a few weeks. Expect a lot of salads, power bowls and green foods coming up over the next 4 weeks. The body can be your best friend and worst enemy when it comes to sugar. If you eat a lot of sugar, you’ll crave more sugar! But if you cut it out, those cravings go away after a few days and you begin to crave healthy, whole, real food. So it’s Operation Sugar Clean-Up this month! Except for fruit of course, it can always stay!
March is a perfect month for new goals and I’ve got a number of them to work on this month. Starting tomorrow we have 4 full weeks to work on the goals we’ve set for ourselves! Wonderful!
Goals for March
1. Complete my 3 long training runs + first race of the year.
- March 10th – 13 km
- March 17th – 14 km
- March 24th – 8 km Road Race
- March 31st – 11 km
Also on March 24th I’ll be adding in an extra run/week making it 4 days of running each week instead of 3.
2. Participate in the #Powerbowladay Challenge from Powercakes.
Follow the above link to check it out and join in on the challenge. We’ll all be checking in and posting photos of our power bowls on the Challenge Loop app and Twitter. How will I stay accountable? Well luckily for me, the blogging community – bloggers and readers alike! – embraces these challenges whole-heartily and you can find incredible support and motivation across social media. Plus Kasey from Powercakes is super inspiring and awesome 🙂
3. Make it to 2 yoga classes/week.
I haven’t been to my usual Power Yoga class in a few weeks so it’s time to get back in the swing of things. Plus as my long runs increase in distance my hips and IT bands will only be getting tighter and tighter! There are more than 15 yoga classes/week available at my gym, there is not reason I can’t make it to 2!
4. Participate in the #handstandmadness March yoga challenge. Check it out on Instagram.
Yoga is 1% theory and 99% practice. It’s amazing how a little daily practice can grow your poses by leaps and bounds. I printed off a calendar to post so I can keep track of the daily poses.
I will be checking in every Sunday with how I’m doing on my March goals.

Here are a couple of eats from the week that didn’t find their way to the blog:
I came across this on Instagram the other day, it’s from RawForBeauty.com. It kind of explains some of the meaning behind my blog, Running on Real Food.
Ok, I think that’s it for my weekly recap. I’ll leave you with a few quotes I came across today, let’s try to carry these thoughts into the week and make it a good one!
“Don’t allow yourself to wake up with yesterday’s issues troubling your mind. Refuse to live backwards, see everyday as a new chapter.”
“Everything we do is infused with the energy with which we do it. If we’re frantic, life will be frantic. If we’re peaceful, life will be peaceful.”
Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!
What are you goals for the week and the month?
