I know I said I wouldn’t be posting a Five Things Friday this week but I came across so many delicious look recipes this morning that I had to share! So on this Saturday morning I have a day late Five Things Friday post highlighting 5 raw and vegan recipes. I’m a big fan of raw food and try to incorporate it into my diet as much as possible. Luckily for me there are some amazing raw food blogs out there that feature the most beautiful, simple and healthful raw food recipes. Here are 5 that will be made in my kitchen and end up in my belly, very, very soon.
By most of you probably know I love Thai food but traditional Pad Thai has eggs, fish sauce and shrimp, none of which I’m too keen on eating. I stumbled across this recipe for Living Pad Thai through Carrie on Vegan. Doesn’t it look totally amazing! Stay tuned as I test this recipe out soon.
Emily from This Rawsome Vegan Life has done it again. Easy to make and very, very easy to eat. I will be trying these out asap, if I remember to take any photos before scarfing them down, I’ll be sure to let you know how they turn out.
I’ve made raw and vegan “cheesecakes” before and they turned out absolutely amazing. I made a pumpkin pecan with coconut cream version a few months ago and it was totally awesome. I want to eat this right now but I’ll have to wait until next weekend as this will be dessert after Easter dinner. I don’t know what raw foodists and vegan would do without the glorious cashew, you’ll find these little guys make the base for many epic vegan desserts.
As you might have heard, I really love pesto. What I don’t love is store-bought versions full of salt, preservatives and other additives. But like most foods there is usually a way to make a healthier, veganized version of our favourite dishes. I love my Spinach Hazelnut Pesto and my Kale Walnut Pesto, but I haven’t tried an avocado variety. I’ve been looking everywhere in Vancouver for a spiralizer and finally my awesome mom-in-law found one that works! I’ll be picking it up next weekend at Easter dinner and I can’t wait to get my zucchini noodle on, starting with this beautiful pesto-licious raw pasta dish from one of my favourite raw food blogs.
For me the best way to keep my chocolate cravings in check is by making batch of raw treats and storing them in the freezer. If I don’t have something healthy on hand then who knows what could happen! You know chocolate cravings..there’s no telling what I might eat if I’m in a pinch. I was snacking on my Hemp Protein Energy Bites all week and that did the trick. I think I’m make these tomorrow so I can have a yummy raw and vegan treat after dinner treat all week.
