Hey, hey! Can you guys believe January is coming to an end in just a few days?? Isn’t that crazy? I hope you’re all still on track to accomplish all your 2015 goals! This is the time to really dig in and stay focused. Tomorrow on the blog I’ll be talking a bit more about goals and sharing some simple techniques to help you achieve whatever it is you’re working on. Be sure to check back tomorrow for that!
Todays post is a new Running on Real Food monthly feature where I’ll be sharing some of my favourite finds, products and whatever else I’m loving at the moment. Let’s get started!
Most of my 2015 goals revolve around Running on Real Food so I’ve been on the look out for products that can help me achieve those goals. One of the things I struggled with during my first two years of blogging was organization and planning, two key components of any successful blog. I played around with a few different options for an editorial calendar but this workbook by Regina Anaejiou has finally saved the day.
There is tons of space for notes, ideas and planning, as well as a goal setting worksheet, space for developing your brand guidelines, business plan, blog analytics, recording income and expenses, a year at a glance planner and 12 months worth of editorial calendars.
It’s only $15.88 so I’d definitely recommend grabbing a copy if you’re serious about building your blog. You can start the 12 months at any time so there’s no need to wait for 2016.
Regina also offers a ton of free resources on her blog. Check it out here.
There is nothing worse than your headphones falling out during a workout, well except for forgetting them all together! Devastating.
Luckily, these things stay in place no matter what I’m doing making them perfect for running, skipping, box jumps, burpees and just about anything else! Plus they’re only $19.99 too so it’s not a huge investment and if you’re a music lover like me, don’t worry, they sound great.
3. MCT Oil
I’m officially in love with adding MCT Oil to my morning tea or coffee. It’s the best pre-workout I’ve ever experienced! I started this about two weeks ago and I’ve been having the best morning workouts ever since. Simply brew your tea or coffee, when it’s ready add 1 tbsp of MCT Oil and blend for about 15-20 seconds.
If you prefer, you can also add a little non-dairy milk and natural sweetener such as maple syrup. I find it doesn’t need any added milk or sweetener though.
When you blend it, it becomes super frothy and creamy and it’s so good! I know it sounds a little weird but I can’t recommend it enough! I now have this every morning and I’ve noticed an increase in energy, zero caffeine jitters and I don’t get as hungry throughout the morning as I used to. You can also add it to smoothies or salad dressings if you’re not a coffee or tea drinker.
I’ll be writing an upcoming post explaining more about this as well as my recipe for a Bulletproof Coconut Chai Tea Latte.
4. Hemp Milk
Even though I cook a lot, I’m actually pretty lazy in the kitchen and always looking for shortcuts. I used to make a batch of nut milk every week but lately I haven’t really been up for the soaking, blending and straining. In comes hemp milk and I’m in love.
I make it as needed, usually about 1 cup at a time. Simply blend 1/4 cup of hemp seeds with 1 cup of water for about 2-3 minutes until smooth and creamy. It’s perfect for oats, chia pudding or added to your coffee. Plus hemp seeds are packed with nutrition! I don’t add anything else in but if you prefer a little extra flavour, try adding in vanilla, cinnamon or maple syrup.
I’ll be sharing a recipe for Vanilla Maple Hemp Milk Coffee Creamer on the blog soon, so keep your eyes out for that in the coming weeks!
I’m a huge self-development nerd so I love books like this. I first heard about Hal Elrod when he was on the Smart Passive Income Podcast (episode 140 if you’re interested, it’s a good one!) talking about the importance of morning routines and how they contribute to your success.
I already get up early for my morning workouts but after reading this book I’ve really upped my morning game and have been loving it! Developing a “morning success ritual” is so important to setting up a productive and successful day.
I’d highly recommend this book to anyone but especially those who have a close relationship with their snooze button! Grab a copy here.
Even if you don’t eat a plant-based diet, I think it’s still important to consider the brands that find their way into your beauty routine. Many products are not only full of questionable ingredients but they’re still tested on animals. Fortunately, more and more natural and cruelty-free brands are now making their way to shelves everywhere. The times are a changing and it makes me so happy!
Aside from the organic, vegan ingredients, each flavour of Hurraw is a seriously delicious treat! My personal favourites are the Root Beer and Black Cherry flavours. I’m hooked and thanks to the fine folks at Hurraw, I’m giving away a prize pack of 6 lip-smacking flavours!!
